DISCOVER HISTORY

Decatur has one hundred and sixty four years of history to explore. From the county’s founding to the world wars and beyond, the town is steeped in stories of past events. Our history has influenced people all across the country and can be found in books and publications. This heritage is diligently maintained by the Wise County Historical Society, which is headquartered at the Wise County Heritage Museum located in Decatur.
