Decatur Chamber Business of the Week - May 26th

PLAZA CINEMA IV DECATUR

The Cinema in Decatur is a locally-operated cinema featuring 4 screens for first-run Hollywood movies & a concession stand. This is a great place for a date night or a fun night with the family!! The Cinema had been shut down, during spring break, which is a prime time for them, because of the COVID-19 , but they put that time to good use!!

UPDATES WHILE SHUTDOWN:

1. We painted the lobby and concession area, handrails, and floors in front of the screen in two of our theaters.

2. We upgraded the carpet in the two largest theaters. The work was done by Ideal Flooring.

3. We thoroughly cleaned and waxed all theater and lobby floors.

4. We rebuilt the maintenance room.

5. We rebuilt the outside poster cases and converted to LED lights.

The summer months of May, June, and July are their biggest months of the year. They are not expected to get new releases until the major markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are open. Most releases have been put on hold indefinitely or pushed back considerably. Some have gone directly to Video on Demand. So, they are planning to show old classic movies at a reduced admission price until the new releases start again.
